Lauren A. Kessler

Overview

Lauren Kessler focuses her trial practice on representing businesses, individuals, and insurers in civil litigation matters throughout Missouri. Her experience includes handling all phases of litigation, including written discovery, dispositive motion practice, depositions, hearings, and trial preparation in state and federal court.

Prior to joining Watters Wolf Bub Hansmann, Lauren served as an Assistant Attorney General for the Missouri Attorney General’s Office, where she managed an active litigation caseload involving civil rights, employment, tort, and wrongful death matters. In that role, she gained valuable trial experience, regularly drafting and arguing motions to dismiss, prepared motions for summary judgment, and developed litigation strategy involving sovereign immunity, official immunity, and §1983 liability claims. In addition, Lauren has experience in taking and defending depositions, preparing clients and witnesses for testimony, and appearing in court for hearings and other pretrial matters. She is known for her strong legal writing, attention to detail, and practical approach to litigation strategy and case management.

Lauren gained early courtroom experience while serving as a Special Litigation Intern with the Missouri Attorney General’s Office, where she assisted with litigation and policy matters.

In her spare time, Lauren enjoys traveling, painting, trying new coffee shops, and exploring Forest Park.
