Defense Win in Rear End Auto Accident After Three Day Trial in St. Louis County, Missouri

Tim Wolf, Bob Amsler and Allie Malone closed out the year by obtaining a complete defense verdict in St. Louis County, MO for their client a local security company in a rear-end auto accident case on Highway 64/40 where the Plaintiff claimed bodily injury and emotional distress damages because of the accident.  Plaintiff was 8 months pregnant at the time of the accident and went into pre-term labor which resulted in an emergency surgery and a four-day hospital stay.  Plaintiff’s counsel requested an award of $750,000 from the jury in closing argument.  The WWBH defense team successfully demonstrated that their client was not at fault for the accident because the Plaintiff came to a sudden stop on the highway in front of their client’s commercial vehicle.   The defense also presented expert medical testimony at trial that the accident did not cause the pre-term labor, nor the need for emergency surgery.  After just 45 minutes of deliberations, the jury declined to award any damages to Plaintiff and returned a verdict in favor of the defendant security company, finding that nobody was at fault for the accident.
